Using the Backup Wizard

Selecting a Backup Source
Retrospect gives you a fine degree of control in selecting the data that you want to back up. Choose one of the options that let you protect the backup computer and the other computers on your network, or select Let me choose to specify individual folders and files.

File Selection Filters
To save space on the backup media, you can include or exclude specific kinds of files. Files types that are not selected will be excluded from the backup.

Scheduling Backups
Select a time for backups and schedule the days on which you want them to run.

Data Grooming
With scheduled backups, the hard drive eventually becomes full. You have the option of deciding whether Retrospect will prompt you to add more disk space or groom out older backups to make room for newer data.

The Backup Wizard displays a summary listing the backup source, the kinds of files selected for backup, and the backup destination.
Using the Restore Wizard

Selecting a Backup Set
To restore from a particular Backup Set, select the Backup Set. The Restore Wizard will display a list of available snapshots for the Backup Set. A snapshot is a list of files and folders existing on a computer during a particular backup. Select the snapshot that you want to use.

Choosing a Destination
Select a destination where you want to restore your restored files. Restore to the original location or select a new location for the data.

First choose a destination for your backups.
Next, select the files you want to protect.
